Caraes Ndera Neuropsychiatric Hospital is a teaching hospital and collaborates with the University of Rwanda's medical school to provide internship and clerkship opportunities for medical students and psychiatric residents to gain experience and supervision. Ndera also provides clinical internship opportunities and supervision for national and international clinical psychology students and post-graduate students.
Ndera is involved with a variety of research projects at the national and international level. Currently, we are participating in an ongoing study with Johnson & Johnson to look at the effectiveness and side effect reduction of using PPM11 and PPM2 injectable antipsychotics.
Dr. Bizoza is the PI on this important study.
The advantages for patients in using injectable medications every 3 months include a reduction in relapse rate, a reduction in negative side effects and an observable, improved quality of life.
